about

I’m in a lot of pain. I feel confused, hopeless, and like I lost a part of me forever. I write to cope with emotional states like this. A couple weeks ago, I wrote a handful of poems, and one of those poems was the inspiration for this song I call Moonlight. It tells the story of how I got like this and how I feel.

Musically, I wanted to explore combining some of my favorite musical genres with more popular ones. It features elements of indie/electro pop, progressive metal, technical death metal, and classical. The song features me singing and a solo that I’m pretty proud of.

I dedicate Moonlight to Meg Myers. I recently discovered her music and I’m in awe of the vulnerability she shows through her music. Her courageousness is deeply inspiring.

lyrics

Lyrics:

On a dark summer night
I can see your face in the moonlight
All we had, all we were
Did it really mean anything?

On the eve of the sunrise
I can feel the warmth of your hands
All we said, all we felt
Did this love ever have a chance?

At the edge of all hope
I want to say a million thing
Will you listen, is it worth it
How did we lose our hearts to despair?

At the end of my breath
I only wish you would believe me
Will this matter, is this fair
How do I live when our love is dead?

Pick up all the pieces
Of my broken life
I am not defined by
The person at my side

I've never felt these feelings
But everything is fine
This is the lie I'm repeating
To keep myself alive
